Junior Web Designer / Programmer in Ottawa area
needed to help with the completion of a major website redesign project.
The contract would last approximately 3-4 weeks or possibly longer
on an on-call basis. Ideal for a college or university student or
recent graduate to build on their design portfolio and references.
COMPANY DESCRIPTION
We are a non-profit organization called SONGTSEN,
dedicated to providing humanitarian aid in Asia, and in particular
to helping Tibetan refugees.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are the key responsibilities for
this role:
- Responsible for assistance with web development,including
integration of translated content (French), creation of web forms,
and integration of a shopping cart solution
- Responsible for the test work and troubleshooting
on different web browsers and ensure basic web usability standards
- Reporting to the Website Manager
- Possible development / improvement of a graphical
user interface for database input
QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, candidates
must have the following qualifications:
- Bilingual (English/French)
- Graduate or current student in web design
/ computer science
- Knowledge of leading web tool sets / software:
XHTML, PHP, CSS, Dreamweaver, Java scripting, e-commerce required
- Understanding of Joomla/CMS systems, Contribute,
Access, MySQL, graphic design, Flash, Photoshop & Illustrator

- Excellent time management skills and able
to manage projects in an efficient manner
- Excellent communication skills, ability to
work in a team to develop web solutions in a structured and organized
manner
- Ability to be creative while respecting client
standards and guidelines
